Go-Go Fall To Celtics, 103-99, In 20-Point Comeback Effort

The Capital City Go-Go were defeated by the Maine Celtics, 103-99, at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.
The Go-Go got off to a slow start offensively and were down by as much as 11 points with two and a half minutes to go in the first quarter. Led by back-to-back layups from Wizards two-way player Eugene Omoruyi, the Go-Go cut the deficit to six and finished the quarter down 26-20. The Go-Go struggled again offensively to start the second quarter and fell by as much as 20 points, but Omoruyi came through once again with a three-point jump shot and back-to-back layups at the end of the quarter, with the Go-Go finishing the half down 53-41. Capital City gave up the first points of the third quarter, but went on a 19-7 run to cut the deficit to two points. The team continued to fight their way back, capturing the lead for the first time with 1:19 to go in the fourth quarter, but in the end fell to the Celtics, 103-99, despite their comeback effort.
Jules Bernard led the Go-Go with 22 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. Omoruyi finished the day with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Wizards two-way player Jared Butler led the team with 7 assists while putting up 15 points and six rebounds. Chase Audige also scored in double-digits with 10 points and had 3 steals. Wizards assignment player Patrick Baldwin Jr. came up with 4 blocks and a steal.
The Celtics were led in scoring by DJ Steward with 24 points off the bench. JD Davison (18 points, 10 assists) and Nathan Knight (12 points, 13 rebounds) both secured double-doubles for Maine with Davison leading the team in assists and Knight leading in rebounds. Jordan Walsh also had double-digit rebounds (10), falling one point short of a double-double.
The Go-Go will travel to Greensboro to face the Swarm for the fourth away game of the season on Tuesday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the Novant Health Fieldhouse.
