Everyday DC Photography Contest

In partnership with the Pulitzer Center of Crisis Journalism, and with support from D.C. Commission on the Arts & Humanities and the Charles Sumner School Museum & Archives, DCPS middle school students in photography courses participate in a "Everyday DC" unit where students are asked to take photos of areas in their neighborhood that represent what DC is to them. This unit is used to help contradict and deny the negative narrative that is often pushed about the District.

DCPS students participating in this unit had the opportunity to submit their photography to the "Everyday DC" photography contest. Three winners were chosen for the opportunity to meet a Go-Go player in the location of their photo, and discuss what the space means to them. This photography was also be featured on the videoboard at the March 22nd Capital City Go-Go game and the DCPS Photography Exhibition at the end of March.
