The Capital City Go-Go, the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, have acquired guard R.J. Hampton via trade with the Sioux Falls Skyforce in exchange for a first round pick (via Memphis) in the 2024 NBA G League Draft and the returning rights to Trevion Williams. In a related move, the Go-Go have waived guard Gabe Kalscheur.

Hampton (6-4, 175), who last played for the Miami Heat on a two-way contract, has appeared in seven games (one start) for the Skyforce in the 2023-24 regular season, averaging 11.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 25.8 minutes per game. Hampton has appeared in 15 career regular season G League games, averaging 17.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists with the Skyforce and Lakeland Magic (2022-23).

The 23-year-old has also appeared in 170 NBA games (20 starts) with the Heat (2023-24), Detroit Pistons (2023), Orlando Magic (2021-23) and Denver Nuggets (2020-21), averaging 6.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in his career. The four-year pro was drafted with the 24th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks before his rights were traded to the Denver Nuggets. Prior to joining the NBA, the Dallas, Texas, native played for the New Zealand Breakers of the National Basketball League (NBL) in Australia after finishing high school.

Kalscheur was acquired by the Go-Go prior to training camp and appeared in 18 games throughout the 2023-24 Showcase Cup and regular season.
