Williams Comes to Capital City From Santa Cruz in Exchange for Jordan Schakel

WASHINGTON, D.C. –The Capital City Go-Go, the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, announced today that they have acquired center Trevion Williams from the Santa Cruz Warriors in exchange for guard-forward Jordan Schakel.

Williams is in his first NBA G League season and has appeared in 22 games (12 starts) for Santa Cruz, averaging 9.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. Prior to joining Santa Cruz, Williams went undrafted out of Purdue and participated on the Boston Celtics’ Summer League team before signing an Exhibit 10 contract with the Golden State Warriors on July 22, 2022. At Purdue, Williams was named the Big Ten’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2022 and was selected to the First-Team All-Big Ten in 2021. He averaged 10.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists across four seasons at Purdue.

Schakel first joined the Go-Go prior to the 2021-22 season, starting in 70 career games for the Go-Go and setting a team record with 118 made threes on the season. In 2022-23, he appeared in 23 games (all starts), averaging 13.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. Schakel began the 2022-23 season on a two-way contract with the Washington Wizards and appeared in six total games for the team over the past two years.
