The Women That Make the Go-Go, Go!
By Capital City Go-Go Staff /February 7, 2024
This National Girls & Women in Sports Day, the Capital City Go-Go are celebrating the many women who help keep the organization running. From the top of the c-suite all the way down, women are at the forefront of the Go-Go organization.
The team is led on both the business and operations sides by women. On the operations side, Amber Nichols is in her third full season as General Manager of the Capital City Go-Go. Nichols joined Tori Miller of the College Park Skyhawks as the only two black female General Managers in the NBA G League. Nichols’ groundbreaking career path also helped land her on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Sports in 2022. On the business side, Alycen McAuley is in her fourth season as President and Chief Business Operator of the team, overseeing sales, marketing, and sponsorships. Nichols and McAuley together are the only dual-woman GM/Team President duo in the G League.
Continuing on the operations side, Dr. Shawna Johnston is the team’s Head Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist, leading injury prevention, clinical management, and return-to-play strategies for the Go-Go. Supporting Dr. Johnston is Assistant Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist, Dr. Ashley Green. Behind-the-scenes, Ami Bracey supports the team as the Director of Equipment & Logistics. Princess Streeter connects the team to the community, supports them in off-court development, and much more as the Player Development Coordinator. Handling media, statistics, and public relations is Autumn Hair, who is in her second season as the Communications Coordinator with the Go-Go.
Back on the business side, Dana Campbell has served as the Vice President of Marketing since the team’s inception in the 2018-19 season. The Sr. Manager of Digital Marketing, Anna Brune, is in her first season with the team, focusing on creating content for social, web, and email. She is supported by Ali Palma, the Video Editor and Producer, who is in her third season with the Go-Go, and helps produce the high-level Go-Go Content. On the sales side, Janel Saunders is in her 3rd season with the Go-Go as the Corporate Sales Specialist.
These are just a few of the many women who help make the Go-Go what it is. Both on and off the court, the team is supported in every way by powerful women.
GM Amber Nichols believes strongly in the importance of women in the sports industry, and honoring all that they do.
“Celebrating women in sports is crucial for creating an inclusive and empowering environment. Women have made significant contributions to the sports industry and deserve to be recognized and championed for their achievements. It is important to support and uplift women in sports, as they often face unique challenges and obstacles in a male-dominated industry. By celebrating their accomplishments, we can inspire future generations of female athletes and executives and create a more equal playing field.”
