Go-Go Overcome 18-Point Deficit to Defeat Wisconsin Herd

The Capital City Go-Go, the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, defeated the Wisconsin Herd, 120-115, after being down by as much as 18 points in the middle of the third quarter.
The Go-Go got out to an early lead to start the game but fell into a nine-point deficit in the first quarter when the Herd went on a 9-0 run with four minutes left in the period. The Go-Go were then outscored 37-28 in the second quarter, finishing the half down 16 points. After falling by as much as 18 points in the third quarter, the Go-Go started getting defensive stops, and tied the game 91-91 by the end of the third. The two teams battled until the end, but a pair of clutch free throws and a game-changing block from John Butler Jr. at 32 seconds left in the fourth helped propel the Go-Go to a 120-115 victory over the Herd.
For the second-straight game, eight players scored in double-figures for the Go-Go including all starters. The team was led by Wizards two-way player Jared Butler, who had 21 points and a season-high six rebounds. Wizards two-way Jules Bernard (17), Hamidou Diallo (13), Michael Foster Jr. (12) and Taylor Funk (11) rounded out the double-digit scoring starters with Bernard and Foster Jr. each bringing down a team-high eight rebounds. Devon Dotson led the reserves with 15 points and led the team with four assists. Jake Stephens (12) and Davion Mintz (10) also scored double-digits off the bench, with Stephens shooting 100% from the field, including two made threes.
Milwaukee Bucks two-way player TyTy Washington Jr. led the Herd in points with 22. He also led the team in assists with six. Wenyan Gabriel led the Herd in rebounds with the lone double-double of the night, bringing down 10 rebounds while scoring 15 points.
The Go-Go will face the Birmingham Squadron next on Friday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Entertainment and Sports Arena for the team’s Margaritaville theme night. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.
