Go-Go Defeated Mexico City in First-Ever Matchup in D.C.

The Capital City Go-Go, the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, defeated the Mexico City Capitanes, 135-113, in the first matchup between the two teams in Washington, D.C.
Wizards assignment player Justin Champagnie, who signed with the team on February 22, led the way for the Go-Go, scoring 29 points while making a season-high seven three-point shots. He also added seven rebounds and three assists. Devon Dotson once again showed his reliability as he put on another double-double performance, dishing out a near career-high 14 assists with 14 points, seven rebounds, two steals and a block. Wizards two-way player Jules Bernard scored 20-plus points for the 21st time this year, finishing the night with 21 points and five rebounds. Hamidou Diallo (12) and Wizards assignee Patrick Baldwin Jr. (10) rounded out the double-digit scoring starters. Taylor Funk (12), John Butler Jr. (10) and R.J. Hampton (10) also scored in double figures off the bench.
The Capitanes had three players score 20-plus points, with Phillip Wheeler leading the team with 28 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Ethan Thompson was the next-highest scorer with 26 points and a team-leading 6 assists. Iverson Molinar scored 22 points and Malique Lewis led the team in rebounds with nine boards.
The Go-Go will face the Wisconsin Herd next on Wednesday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Entertainment and Sports Arena. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.
