Go-Go Defeat Motor City Cruise In Overtime

The Capital City Go-Go defeated the Motor City Cruise, 124-119, in overtime.
The Go-Go trailed the Cruise after each of the first three quarters, but the team stayed within 11 points throughout the game. The Go-Go got up to a six-point lead with 1:13 left in the fourth quarter, but the Cruise scored six points straight to force overtime. After scoring 29 points and dishing 10 assists in regulation, Wizards two-way player Jared Butler helped seal the Go-Go victory, delivering two assists and shooting the final three-point bucket the Go-Go needed to reach the target score of 124.
Butler led the Go-Go in points and assists with his second-straight double-double as he finished the night with 32 points, his second-highest scoring performance of his career, and 12 assists. Capital City saw two more double-doubles on the night from Michael Foster Jr. and Hamidou Diallo. Foster Jr. led the Go-Go in rebounds, bringing down a career-high 16 boards while scoring 14 points. Diallo scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds. Wizards two-way player Jules Bernard also put on a strong performance, scoring 27 points with six rebounds.
Zavier Simpson led the Cruise in points and assists with 29 points and 11 assists. Jared Rhoden also scored 20+ with 22 points on the night. Jayce Johnson led the team in rebounds with nine boards off the bench.
The Go-Go will begin a 13-day road trip on January 5 to start the new year when they face the Maine Celtics at 7:00 p.m. at the Portland Expo Building.
