WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Capital City Go-Go (5-2), the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, defeated the Windy City Bulls (2-5) 111-108, on Saturday night in the District.
Plays in the paint and at the free throw line dominated the tightly-contested affair, as each team connected on just four three-pointers apiece. Capital City scored 70 of its points in the paint, its fourth game in the regular season topping 70, as they entered the game second in the league with 65.7 points per game in the paint. The Go-Go added 29 points from the line, attempting a season-high 29 free throws on the night.
The Go-Go were led by Jordan Goodwin’s 20 points, 14 of which came in a seven-minute stretch between the end of the second quarter and beginning of the third. Six other Go-Go players scored in double figures, with Craig Sword tallying 14 points and a Go-Go season-high five steals. Jordan Schakel, Jaime Echenique, Kyree Walker, Isaiah Todd and Greg Monroe were the key scoring contributors.
Ethan Thompson of the Bulls led all scorers with 25 points, 14 of which came in the final frame. Daniel Oturu (22 points), Marko Simonovic (19 points) and Devon Dotson (15 points) provided the bulk of the scoring for Windy City.
The game marked the beginning of a four-game home stretch for the Go-Go, who will meet the Bulls again on Monday night. Capital City will also host the Westchester Knicks on Wednesday and host the G League Ignite tour on Friday.
