By Capital City Go-Go Staff /November 3, 2021

WASHINGTON, DC – The Capital City Go-Go, the Washington Wizards’ NBA G League affiliate, completed a trade with the Grand Rapids Gold today, acquiring the returning player rights to Craig Sword in exchange for the returning player rights to Chris Chiozza and Capital City’s third round pick in the 2022 NBA G League Draft. The trade is not subject to a physical.

Sword, a 6-3, 196-pound guard originally out of Mississippi, has played in three NBA G League seasons dating back to 2017-18 with the Erie BayHawks and then-Grand Rapids Drive. Sword has appeared in 139 career regular season NBA G League games, averaging 8.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Sword’s last season with the Drive in 2019-20 saw him average 9.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game. He added a career-high 25 points on December 28 at Fort Wayne and scored at least 20 points four times on the season.

Sword has also played three seasons internationally in Poland and Mexico, including three games in the 2020-21 season with Astros de Jalisco. Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, Sword played all four years at Mississippi State, where he finished fourth all time on the school’s all-time steals list with 185.

In a related move, Capital City waived guard PJ Hardy.
