The Capital City Go-Go look to bring their winning streak into 2024 as they kick off the year against the Maine Celtics.
The Go-Go ended 2023 on a high note with a 124-119 overtime thriller on December 30 versus the Motor City Cruise. Capital City trailed Motor City after each of the first three quarters of the game, but the team stayed within 11 points throughout. Though they were able to take a six-point lead late in the fourth quarter, the Cruise went on a 6-0 run to force overtime.
Two-way player Jared Butler accounted for all seven points in the overtime period, leading the team to victory with two assists and the game-winning three-pointer. Butler was named the NBA G League Player of the Week, averaging 28 points, 12.5 assists, and 4 rebounds for the week of December 27 – January 1. His efforts led the Go-Go to back-to-back wins at home to close out 2023. Through the first week of the NBA G League regular season, Butler’s 28 PPG are tied for eighth in the league and his 12.5 APG rank second.
Like the Go-Go, the Celtics have started their NBA G League regular season with a 2-1 record. After back-to-back wins on the road over the Oklahoma City Blue, the Celtics fell short in a 112-108 matchup at home against the Grand Rapids Gold. The team hopes to rebound behind their backcourt led by guards JD Davidon and DJ Steward, who led the team in PPG during the Showcase season with 22.7 and 19.1, respectively.
Tip-off for the game on Friday, January 5 is at 7 PM. The game will be available to watch on Tubi, available here.
