When are the tryouts?
The tryout will take place on Saturday, September 15 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Congress Heights. Participants must have pre-registered at (link here) (there will be no walk-up registration). Registration check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m.
When is the deadline to register?
Everyone looking to participate must complete registration by Wednesday, September 12 at 5:00 p.m. Spots for the tryout are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
How much are tryouts?
There will be a non-refundable fee of $150 to participate in the tryout.
Will walkup registrations be allowed the day of the tryout?
No walkups will be allowed to participate in the tryout.
Where is the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Congress Heights located?
The address to the arena is 1100 Oak Drive SE Washington, D.C. 20032. The arena may be accessed by the Congress Heights Metro stop on the green line.
Can I park at the arena the day of the tryout?
There will be no parking available at the arena the day of the tryout. Participants should travel by Metro or be dropped off at the location. The address listed in the above question is best for GPS use, or ‘St. Elizabeth’s East Entertainment Sports Arena’ may be entered.
What registration paperwork should I bring the day of the tryout?
Pre-registered participants should bring a Completed Tryout Waiver and Release Form (download here). If you do not bring a completed waiver you will be asked to complete one on site. You must complete and sign a waiver before participating in tryout activities. Participants should also bring a government issued photo ID.
How long will the tryouts last?
Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. The first portion of the tryout will run from approximately 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. when first cuts will be announced and lunch will be given to all participants. The second portion of tryouts will run until approximately 3:00 p.m.
Can my family or friends watch the tryout?
No, only tryout participants will be permitted inside the building during the event.
What should I wear to the tryout?
Participants will be given a reversible Go-Go jersey for use during the event, but should come wearing athletic shorts and shoes. Participants are responsible for providing all of their own athletic gear (head bands, wrist bands, etc.).
Can I be taped at the tryout?
There will be no athletic trainer available for any taping prior to the event. Participants should arrive to the event pre-taped if they wish to do so.
What can I expect at the tryout?
Capital City Go-Go General Manager Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Head Coach Jarell Christian, as well as other Go-Go basketball operations staff, will be in attendance grading the talent at the event. Players will be run through a series of drills and participate in scrimmages in order to showcase their talent.
How many players make the Go-Go roster?
The Go-Go are permitted to invite up to four players from the tryout to the team’s training camp, which will begin in October. However, no players will be guaranteed a final roster spot with the Go-Go at the end of the tryout.
Do I receive anything for participating in the tryout?
All participants will be given a reversible jersey for use during the tryout. All players will also receive a complimentary ticket to one Go-Go home game during the 2018-19 season.

The Capital City Go-Go are the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards. The team is beginning play in the 2018-19 season as the 27th member of the NBA G League. Capital City will play its home games at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Congress Heights, which is also home to the MedStar Wizards Practice Facility. The new state-of-the-art arena can hold up to 4,200 patrons and will host concerts and community events as well as all Go-Go and Washington Mystics’ games beginning in 2018-19.
